Grounds Staff

Managing the large estate took many employees including horsemen, chauffeurs, greenhouse men, and landscape gardeners. There was also seasonal help to assist with tasks such as cutting wood and ice or weeding gardens. The estate maintained nine houses where staff and their families were housed. Swedish immigrant Manning Johnson was the landscape gardener from 1904-1917 and his family lived in three different houses on the property during that time.
