Eustis Estate

Comparison to Valley Below

The dynamic cloud formations that Davis relished are also seen in the painting The Valley Below by a younger artist, George H. Hallowell, displayed on the ground floor of Eustis Estate in the Living Hall. Notice how each man devoted more than half of his composition to an atmospheric sky. Born in Boston, Hallowell spent three years at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, where Davis had studied earlier.
