Bust of Lord Byron

England, 1830s; Parian porcelain; Gift of Constance McCann Betts, Helena Woolworth Guest, and Fraiser W. McCann, 1942.4409.

This bust of Lord Byron rests today in Beauport’s Chapel Chamber, but undoubtedly first appeared in the Byron Room, one of the home’s original guest rooms. Sleeper’s fascination with Byron extended to a range of romantic British figures; Percy Shelley, Horace Walpole, and Horatio Nelson are all honored at Beauport with their own themed rooms.
