Diamond Ball Glitterings

This article from the Black community newspaper theĀ Boston Guardian on May 2, 1953 reports on a much talked about charity event called the Diamond Ball. Part of the event was the Diamond Chip Ballet. Robert Chesnut composed the music for the ballet and Betty Gourdin, referred to as the “Chip herself,”, was the star. “The artistry of Betty Gourdin leaves one breathless,” says the article.
