Eustis Estate
Dining Room Firescreen
By the time the Eustis House was built there had been furnaces in the homes of the well-to-do for decades. As they were no longer needed for heat fireplaces were used largely for aesthetic reasons. Ironically as fires became less important for comfort they were increasingly appreciated. The prismatic beveled glass of this fire screen, while diffusing the heat itself, would have enhanced the visual effect of a fire’s flames.
