Collected as folk art, these silhouettes and family tree bear no link to Sleeper’s own relatives. Indeed, although Beauport teems with portraits, silhouettes, marriage documents, family trees, and mourning pictures, only three hold a family connection. By filling his rooms with anonymous historical figures and surrounding himself with an intimate circle of friends, Sleeper appears to have chosen his own relations.
