Small Parlor Curtains

Although not original to the house, curtains made from fabric designed by the English reformer William Morris are entirely appropriate. Morris was a multi-talented man who designed furniture, wallpaper, and textiles, befriended Pre-Raphaelite artists, and served as Britain’s poet-laureate. He was also the most influential designer of the Arts and Crafts Movement. Morris designed this pattern in 1876 and called it “snakeshead” after the snakeshead fritillary blooms that are a key part of the design.
