Prince has Died

According to Jonathan Sayward’s diary, on February 3, 1789:

“Prince Sayward a free negro died aged over forty year. He had been my servant.
The New Constitution made him free. He was Baptized on his death bed and [appeared] a [penitent] had hope in death. I pur[pose] to bury him at my cost as I have supported him in his Last Sickness.”
